Imamura Tsukumo 今村九十九(いまむらつくも)
Born 1951 in Mie prefecture.
He started carving at age 10. Learned Buddhist sculpture from Matsuhisa Horin and became independent in 1973.
Some of his statues have even found their way to temples in Hawaii.
For one of his statues of Kannon Bosatsu which was ordered by a temple in Kumamoto, there was even the ceremony of painting the eyes, when the Dalai Lama was present and painted the eyes.
Imamura said: This will spur me on in my work !
