Hirano Senri 平野千里(ひらのせんり)
Born 1948 in Tokyo.
He spent almost 20 years in Italy, studying European sculpture. When he returned to Japan, he joined his father Toyama 平野富山 in his workshop. His father was very famous for his colored statues.
In 1981 they had an exhibition of both their works at Osaka.
In his work Senri tries to integrate the Western concept of "Action and Movement 動" and the Eastern consept of "Quietude and Stillness 静".
Eastern sculpture is more symbolic for him.
Most of Buddhist sculpture is very colorful and he is a master of this coloring.
He also started painting at the age of 40.
He lives in Arakawa, Tokyo.
