Utsuno Senkoo 宇津野善光(うつのぜんこう)
Born 1950 in Nagoya in a family of wood dealers.
Learned Buddhist sculpture from Hattori 服部三文助 in Nagoya.
Became independent in 1976.
He also contributes to magazines, writing about Buddha statues and how to appreciate them.
"I am most fulfilled when I become one with my carving tool and spend the whole day, like passing it in 10 minutes, carving a statue."
