Watanabe Seizan / Saihoo
渡邊勢山・載方(わたなべせいざん・さいほう)
Seizan born 1952 in Kanagawa prefecture.
Saihoo born in 1954 in Aomori prefecture.
Both learned Buddhist sculpture from the Matsuhisa Workshop.
In 1985 Seizan married Saihoo.
They are also teaching how to paint Buddha figures.
"The importance of getting the right expression for a statue is within the eyes, the pupil.
The spirit of Buddha is eternal, but the form of a statue is not. We learn the basics from our masters, but we also try to improve with the modern possibilities of our time."
