Yoshiya Kubo
Yoshiya Kuboo 由谷倶忘(よしやぐぼう)
Born 1949 in Aomori prefecture. Learned Buddhist sculpture from Matsuhisa Sorin and Horin since 1972.
He became independent in 1980 and has a workshop in Nara. He even carved a statue of Matsuo Basho , the famous haiku poet, for the Temple Rinsen-Ji 臨川寺 in Fukagawa, Tokyo.
His motto:
"Three is always one more step, even when you have reached the end of the way. You have to always carry on doing the best as you can and then improve what you are doing. "
He teaches carving at the group called "Fumon Kai" 普門会.
